Originally producing sparklers under the name Alexia The focus of the winery then was on sparkling wine made from western Washington grapes. Early in 2000 the winery, which had been in Woodinville since 1997, was moved to owner/winemaker Gordy Rawson's home in the University District of Seattle. The winery was renamed Chatter Creek, to mark re-focusing of the winery towards still wine production.
