The Small family's businesses line both sides of Highway 12 as it passes through Lowden, on the way to Walla Walla. The grain elevator and machine shop, though larger in size, have given way to the small winery tucked out back - at least as far as winelovers are concerned. Woodward Canyon specializes in Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay with occasional lots of other varietals. Caleb Foster-Erskine is assistant winemaker and René Tijerina takes care of the vineyards. Rick Small shares time between winemaking and marketing. Hours: spring/summer, 10 am to 5 pm, Mon.
